Message to the Kingfish community about a recent incident

Our Kingfish community comes together every summer with a shared passion for the water, sportsmanship, and fun. Our team is a diverse community, bringing together individuals from various backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities. It is crucial that we maintain an environment of respect, inclusivity, and understanding, ensuring that every member feels safe and valued. To uphold these principles and foster a positive atmosphere, it is necessary to address a serious concern: the Board has been informed that some racist comments have been made during the season between swimmers and from adults to children.

Our team has a zero-tolerance policy towards offensive language and any racist or discriminatory behavior. We will strive to create a supportive environment for those who have experienced racial slurs or any form of discrimination. Encouraging open dialogue, empathy, and support will ensure that affected individuals feel heard and embraced, strengthening the fabric of our team.
We are committed to upholding the principles of respect, inclusivity, and diversity. The use of racial slurs or any derogatory language contradicts these principles and has no place within our team. Let us work together to build a community that celebrates our differences, uplifts one another, and fosters a culture of respect and understanding. Every swimmer and family in the Kingfish community deserves to feel safe and respected at all times in and out of the pool.

If you have been affected by any offensive or discriminatory comments or behaviors, we welcome you to approach any Kingfish Board member to discuss the matter. You can find our contact information here
