Volunteers Needed

As you know, it takes a HUGE group effort to make Kingfish magic happen each year and we NEED YOU to help!! Below are some off-season roles that we need to fill:

Interview Committee

Interviews for coaching positions will take place during late February. The Interview Committee consists of the Head Coach, Assistant Head Coach and parent volunteers who help evaluate candidates for coaching positions next summer, including Assistant Coaches and Coaches-in-Training (CITs). The Head Coach makes the final decision on hiring coaches, but the parent volunteers provide an important perspective in evaluating candidates.

Bylaws Committee

The Kentlands Swim Team is governed by a set of Bylaws that should be reviewed and updated from time to time. Amendments to the Bylaws may be proposed by any Swim Team family and, per the Bylaws, the team Board shall appoint a Bylaws Task Force to review any proposed amendments. The Bylaws Task Force is required to carefully review any proposed amendments, including soliciting input from Swim Team families, and to make a recommendation to the Swim Team Board and families regarding whether approval is appropriate.

In the past few years, several Board positions have been filled by two volunteers acting as Co-Reps in order to make the positions more attractive to, and manageable for, candidates given the amount of work involved. The Board has proposed a review of the Bylaws to properly reflect this change in practice and to solicit input on how best to structure Board positions. Therefore, we are seeking volunteers who would like to serve on the Bylaws Task Force and work on amendments to the Bylaws in the off-season with the goal of submitting proposals to the Board and families during the 2024 season.

If you are interested in serving on one of these committees, please reach out to Yolanda Goettsch ( [email protected]).

Holiday Giving

The local organization 4 Season Giving Tree works with Montgomery County Public School Counselors and Pupil Personnel Workers to ensure that local families in need will have something to look forward to during the holidays.

https://www.4seasongivingtree.org/

During the 2022 holiday season, volunteers, through 4 Season Giving Tree, supported 122 families, providing gifts and gift cards to 631 individual family members—proof that by working together, we can improve the lives of others and make our community stronger.

If you would like to support a local family in need (as identified by the school system) for the 2023 holiday season by buying and wrapping gifts identified on a family wish list, please complete the following volunteer form as soon as possible: https://www.4seasongivingtree.org/volunteer

Help the Kingfish make a difference in our community!
