It's hard to believe that the 2024 season is around the corner! We've got a few important updates as we prepare.

Coaching Interview Committee & Assistant Coach & CIT Positions Open

We are accepting applications for our 2024 coaching staff positions and will be interviewing for Assistant Coaches (paid positions) and Coaches-in-Training (CITs, not paid, SSL hours offered). We are planning to have 4 Assistant Coaches and 4 CITs but that could change based on coach needs and the size of the team. Applicants for paid positions must be at 15 years old and applicants for the CIT positions must have competed 9th grade.

1. Coaching Committee

The team Bylaws provide that the team will create a Coaching Committee, comprised of several parents who have knowledge of swimming, coaching, the Kingfish or ideally all of the above.The Committee will be comprised of 4-6 parents. Coaching Committee members are asked to interview all applicants and share their feedback on candidates with our Head Coach, Dani, who will make all final hiring decisions. The Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach will participate in the interview process based on availability.

If you would like to participate on the Coaching Committee, you must be able to attend in- person interviews during the afternoons of Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th. Please contact Yolanda Goettsch at [email protected] if you want to be considered for the Committee.

2. Assistant Coach & CIT Applications

Kingfish Coach Applicants: To be considered for one of the open positions please complete the following steps.

Step 1- Please refer to the  Coaching Code of Conduct and Coaching Requirements Form (attached and on the Swimtopia website under Documents) to review coaching criteria and sign the coaching code of conduct.

Step 2- Fill out the  Kentlands Kingfish Coaching Application (attached and on the Swimtopia website under Documents).

Step 3- Return both completed forms to Yolanda Goettsch via email at [email protected]. You can also reach out to Yolanda with any questions.

Bylaws Committee

The Kentlands Swim Team is governed by a set of Bylaws that should be reviewed and updated from time to time. Amendments to the Bylaws may be proposed by any Swim Team family and, per the Bylaws, the team Board shall appoint a Bylaws Task Force to review any proposed amendments. The Bylaws Task Force is required to carefully review any proposed amendments, including soliciting input from Swim Team families, and to make a recommendation to the Swim Team Board and families regarding whether approval is appropriate.

In the past few years, several Board positions have been filled by two volunteers acting as Co-Reps in order to make the positions more attractive to, and manageable for, candidates given the amount of work involved. The Board has proposed a review of the Bylaws to properly reflect this change in practice and to solicit input on how best to structure Board positions. Therefore, we are seeking volunteers who would like to serve on the Bylaws Task Force and work on amendments to the Bylaws in the off-season with the goal of submitting proposals to the Board and families during the 2024 season.

T-Shirt Contest

We want your help designing this years t-shirt. We have a theme for you - music concerts!! The back of the shirt will have the team schedule but the front could be your design.

Contest Rules:

• Must incorporate Kingfish logo.
• Limited to four colors.
• Open to all of the Kentlands Kingfish families.
• Submit design on a 8.5 x 11” white sheet of paper
• Designs due by February 1
• Submit to Carley El-Hibri at [email protected] or drop off at 312 Thaxton Street in the mailbox.
