The Kentlands Kingfish
Founded in 1994, the Kentlands Kingfish is one of the area's most enduring summer swim programs and one of the most beloved summer activities of the Kentlands community. More than 3,700 swimmers have come through our lanes over the years, shaped by countless hours of dedication from coaches, families, and volunteers who show up season after season.
For swimmers at every stage The Kingfish meets kids where they are. Young swimmers begin with Little Kingfish, building water confidence and basic skills before progressing to PreTeam and then the competitive Team. For those who catch the bug, year-round club swim programs keep development going through the off-season, a path that has carried many Kingfish alumni into high school programs and college swimming.
More than a team The Kingfish is a 100% parent-volunteer-run team — from organizing meets to managing registrations to keeping everything running behind the scenes, it's our swim families who make every season happen. But what makes Kingfish stick, what keeps families returning year after year, isn't just the swimming. It's the friendships kids form in the water and on the deck. It's parents reconnecting with neighbors from the splash zone. It's the quiet - sometimes very loud - pride of watching a swimmer discover what they're capable of. The community that grows around a swim season has a way of lasting long after it ends.
