Little Kingfish Swimmers and Coaches
Overview
The Little Kingfish program is perfect for swimmers who didn’t qualify for the pre-team but still want to swim, build confidence in the water, and be part of the Kingfish family! Swimmers should feel comfortable in the water and be able to separate from their parents in the shallow end of the social pool.
Program
Under the supervision of an Assistant Coach, our 13-14 year-old swim members will work with the Little Kingfish swimmers in small groups or one-on-one. To join, swimmers will need to attend a tryout where they should be ready to show a few basic skills like putting their face in the water, blowing bubbles, and working on floating and kicking. For more details, click the Tryouts tab.
Tryouts will start on May 27, 2025. Swimmers interested in joining should attend the tryouts so our coaches can assess their skills. You can sign up through the Tryouts tab. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at [email protected].
Lessons will begin on June 16, 2025 and will take place in the shallow end of the social pool. Don’t worry if your child can’t make every lesson — the fee is the same no matter how many times they attend.
As swimmers grow and improve, they may have the chance to try out for the pre-team. To move up, they’ll need to be evaluated by either the Head Coach or Assistant Head Coach and meet the pre-team criteria listed on the Kingfish website.
There’s no required volunteering for Little Kingfish families, but we’d love for you to get involved with social events and swim meets. It’s a great way to connect with the Kingfish community and discover which roles might be a good fit as your swimmer progresses!
Little Kingfish Coaches
Are you a Kingfish swimmer who’s 13–14 years old, or a rising 8th grader who is 12? If so, you’re eligible to become a Little Kingfish Coach this summer!
As a coach, you’ll work one-on-one or in small groups with our youngest swimmers—helping them build water confidence and basic swim skills. It’s a fun way to give back to the team and earn SSL hours for your time.
What You Need to Know:
- Eligibility: Ages 13–14 or rising 8th graders (age 12)
- Training: Must attend a training session with the Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach
- Commitment: We ask coaches to attend most or all lessons throughout the 4-week session to provide consistency for the swimmers
- Session Dates/Times: See the program section above for full schedule
