Little Kingfish Swimmers and Coaches
Little Kingfish Program
The Little Kingfish program is comprised of those swimmers who did not qualify for the pre team but wish to participate, improve their swimming and comfort level in the water and be part of the Kingfish swim team. Swimmers should be comfortable in the water and able to separate from their parents in the shallow end of the social pool.
Swimmers will be coached individually or in small groups by our 13-14 year old swim team members. All potential Little Kingfish swimmers will need to attend a try-out the week of 5/28/24-5/31/24. Being able put their face in the water, blow bubbles, and working on floating and kicking would be ideal skills for Little Kingfish swimmers to demonstrate at Tryouts. The Little Kingfish will start after the completion of the school year: The lessons will be offered in the shallow end of the social pool. We typically offer Little Kingfish lessons on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 11:30am-12pm. Lesson dates will be changed from 7/4 to 7/5 due to the 4th of July holiday.
For the 2024 Summer Season, we will have one 4-week session of Little Kingfish that will begin on 6/17/24 and end on 7/11/24. If your child cannot make all of the lessons, that is fine but the fee is the same regardless of how many lessons your child attends.
Little Kingfish swimmers, as they progress, will be given the opportunity to try out for pre team. The swimmer must be assessed by either the Head Coach or the Assistant Head Coach and must meet the established criteria for pre team swimmers, as defined on the Kingfish website.
There is no volunteer requirement for Little Kingfish families. We would love your involvement though in running social events and swim meets.
Swimmers who wish to participate will be asked to come to the pre team try-outs starting on 5/28/24 in order to be assessed by the coaching staff (click on the Tryouts tab to sign up). If you have a swimmer who you think would qualify for the program, please contact [email protected],
Little Kingfish Coaches
Kingfish Team Swimmers who are 13-14 years old (or rising 8th graders who are 12) are eligible to be Little Kingfish coaches. You will need to sign up to Coach and attend training with Coach Dani and Coach Erin. You will earn SSL hours for the hours you work. Please commit to attend most/all of the lessons in the four week session in order to be considered as a coach as we want consistency for the swimmers. See the above section for dates and times.
